Legal Administrative Assistant

Prominent boutique political law firm Kaufman Legal Group seeks a full-time Legal Administrative Assistant in its Downtown Los Angeles Office to work with a number of the firm's attorneys, including the firm's Principal Attorney.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for...

• Preparing external correspondence and often sensitive client memorandums.
• Preparing Pleadings, Discovery and other court filings, including use of Pacer accounts and court ECF accounts.
• Interacting professionally with the firm's clients and various external contacts.
• Scheduling appointments, making travel and/or meeting arrangements and maintaining calendars for the firm's attorneys, as instructed.
• Working with the firm's document management system.
• Proofreading and editing text for grammatical, typographical and formatting issues.
• Preparing excel spreadsheets and other documents to assist attorneys.
• Organizing documents for production to government agencies or in response to discovery requests.
• Assisting with the firm's billing process, including maintaining billing records and recording time in the firm's billing software.
• Assisting with preparation of firm marketing materials, website and other external communications.
• Maintaining confidentiality.
• Assuring work product is accurate and presented in a professional manner.

The successful candidate will demonstrate...

• A minimum of 5 years' experience within a law firm and/or professional services environment; experience working within a litigation practice required.
• Knowledge of eFiling systems in all courts, Pacer accounts and court ECF accounts.
• Advanced use of MS Word (including redlining, comparing documents, advanced formatting, TOA and TOC creation and manipulation, and embedded hyperlinks).
• Intermediate to advanced level skills using MS Office Suite; Strong computer aptitude in other programs (including Adobe, eFiling, DocuSign, PDF Essentials, DropBox, etc.).
• Proficiency in the use of document management systems.
• Ability to efficiently proof and edit (using edit marks) routine correspondence, reports and tables for typographical errors and sentence structure.
• High level of communication skills requiring social sensitivity and willingness to gain extensive knowledge of firm procedures and protocols in order to communicate effectively with staff, management, attorneys, and clients.
• Ability to follow and convey instructions effectively with a high degree of courtesy and tact.

Pay Range:

$75,000- $110,000 annually
The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Kaufman Legal Group in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and experience. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, medical and other benefits.
