Prominent boutique political law firm Kaufman Legal Group seeks a full-time paralegal in its Downtown Los Angeles Office.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work with the firm's attorneys on a wide range of political law issues, including compliance with federal, state and local campaign finance, election and lobbying laws; compliance with federal and state tax laws and regulations; and defense of government investigations.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Frequent communication with government agencies on behalf of clients.
• Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments as they pertain to the firm's clients.
• Preparation and submission of tax-exempt applications and other tax filings on behalf of political and non-profit organizations.
• Preparation and filing of federal, state and local lobbying registration and disclosure reports.
• Researching and reviewing political contributions for clients to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local limits and restrictions.
• Maintenance of compliance records on behalf of clients.
• Reviewing and preparing client documents for production in litigation and in response to government investigations.
• Preparing for and responding to audits of non-profit organizations and political committees by government agencies.
• Drafting of alerts and other information updates to clients.
• Assuming other responsibilities as requested to support the firm's political practice.

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Must possess good judgment and a strong sense of professionalism, responsibility, and integrity.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the firm's attorneys, administrative personnel, and clients.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be a self-starter and able to operate independently.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, in particular Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and client service skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and flexibility to assist team members in meeting filing deadlines and client demands.
• Availability to work overtime, as necessary.
• Ability to track and record time accurately and promptly.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.

Pay Range:

$75,000 to $95,000 annually
The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Kaufman Legal Group in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and experience. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, medical and other benefits.
