Accounting/HR Assistant

Well-established law firm with an office in upper Northwest DC is hiring an Accounting/HR Assistant to join our team. The Accounting/HR Assistant will provide accounting, office and human resources support.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years legal billing and accounting experience.  The ideal candidate must be well-organized, dependable, trustworthy, able to maintain confidential financial and personnel information, be an analytical thinker, able to work independently and to handle multiple tasks in a professional, congenial, and efficient manner. Successful candidates must be able to work in the office from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. 

Primary Responsibilities Include:
 
·         Billing/Client Rates/Files:  Must be proficient with legal billing.  Issue and edit prebills.  Sort, scan, distribute final bills.  Set up new clients/matters.  Update and maintain client files and documents.  Ensure client rates and documents are updated when necessary.

 

·         Accounts Payable/Receivable/Accounting:  Must be proficient with A/P and A/R transactions, including general ledger coding, 1099’s, Positive Pay, vendor set up, client trust (IOLTA) accounts. Prepare journal entries; reconcile balance sheet accounts; reconcile expense reimbursements.

 

·         Payroll:  Must be proficient with automated payroll systems.

 

·         Human Resources:  Assist with employee benefits, insurance, 401K

 

·         Financial Reporting:  Prepare monthly and ad hoc financial and billing reports

 

·         Facilities:  Assist with office maintenance and repair requests

 

·         Sponsorships/Donations:  Ensure timely payment; prepare ads; update internal documents

 

·         Perform other accounting, office and administrative duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:
·         Minimum of 3 years law firm billing and accounting experience.  Aderant a plus.

·         Minimum of high school graduate or GED, Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.

·         Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
